The Sukhum Delegation Visited Kazan

The Sukhum delegation headed by Mayor Beslan Eshba visited the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan from March 12 to 15.

During the visit, Beslan Eshba, Mayor of Sukhum, met with Rasikh Sagitov, Secretary General of UCLG-Eurasia. The parties discussed areas of cooperation and reached an agreement on holding a seminar on the Sustainable Development Goals in the city of Sukhum.

A twinning agreement between Kazan and Sukhum was signed in Kazan on March 14. The document was signed by Beslan Eshba, Head of the Sukhum Administration, and Ilsur Metshin, Mayor of Kazan. The parties will contribute to the development and strengthening of cooperation in culture, youth policy, education, physical culture and sports, industry and construction, business and tourism, the implementation of modern information technology, as well as promote cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of architecture and urban development. The capital of Tatarstan has become the 36th city with which Sukhum has signed a cooperation agreement since 1988. The first twinning agreement was signed with Kilmarnock (Scotland).

As part of the visit, the Sukhum delegation got acquainted with Kazan's investment potential and studied experience in organizing children's nutrition. The Kazan program “Healthy Nutrition for Children” ranked first in the competition “Healthy Cities of Russia” in the nomination “The Best Program for Healthy Nutrition”.

In order to study the experience of creating industrial parks, the delegation from Sukhum visited the “Himgrad” Technopolis.
